Job Description

The Asset Manager is responsible for leading all mobile, fixed, and electrical plant asset management execution and technical activities within the site maintenance areas. The Manager sets the vision of asset management for the site and drives accountability to meet or exceed expectations and targets in all business areas related to asset management. The Asset manager will work in collaboration with the mining, mine maintenance and plant teams to develop and implement safe maintenance plans and programs. The Asset Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and longevity of all mining equipment, crushing plant, and site infrastructure. This position involves leading the asset management planning function, managing inventory monitoring, overseeing the development and implementation of maintenance strategies, and ensuring that all assets are managed effectively to support the company’s operational goals. This role must ensure coordination with the IT department to oversee system software management, and liaise with the supply chain department for effective warehouse inventory management. Main Responsibility Areas
  • Maintenance Planning: Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive maintenance plans for all mining assets, ensuring alignment with operational objectives and maximizing equipment availability and reliability.
  • Asset Management: Lead the asset management team in developing long-term asset strategies, including lifecycle management, risk assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize advanced data analysis tools to monitor equipment performance, identify trends, and recommend proactive maintenance interventions.
  • Budget Management: Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective asset management practices while maintaining high standards of equipment performance.
  • Compliance: Ensure all asset management activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on safety and environmental sustainability.

Qualification & Experience

  • A BSc in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or a related field. An MSc in a relevant engineering area will be an added advantage.
  • A professional certification in Asset Management or Maintenance Planning Systems is required.
  • Mincom engineering superintendent competency certificate.
  • Experience in Asset Integrity and Reliability Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in asset management, maintenance planning, or a similar role within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
  • Experience in Caterpillar and Komatsu fleet planning, Processing Plant planning, Electrical Systems planning, Light Vehicles planning, and Infrastructural Systems planning.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading maintenance planning initiatives and managing large-scale assets in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills with experience in utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and other asset management software
