Job Description

The Equipment Health Engineer (CAT) is responsible for monitoring, diagnosing, and optimizing the health and performance of Caterpillar (CAT) machinery and equipment used in manganese mining operations. The goal is to ensure maximum equipment availability, reduce downtime, and enhance the efficiency of the fleets by using advanced diagnostic tools and maintenance practices. Main Responsibility Areas
  • Monitor Equipment Health: Use diagnostic software (e.g., CAT Product Link, VIMS, MineStar) to track machine performance, identify potential failures, and recommend corrective actions.
 
  • Conduct Inspections and Audits: Perform regular inspections on CAT machines to assess their health, condition, and operational efficiency.
   
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze equipment data, generate reports on equipment health trends, and suggest improvements.
 
  • Coordinate Repairs and Maintenance: Collaborate with maintenance teams to prioritize repairs and preventive maintenance for critical equipment based on diagnostics.
 
  • Optimize Equipment Performance: Recommend performance improvement measures, including machine operation adjustments, parts replacement, or upgrades.
   
  • Manage Maintenance Programs: Develop and implement condition-based and predictive maintenance programs to ensure equipment longevity.
 
  • Technical Support: Provide technical expertise to mechanics and operators, ensuring they are informed about best practices for equipment care and usage.
    Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all maintenance and equipment health monitoring activities comply with safety regulations and company policies

Qualification & Experience

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications in equipment health diagnostics, condition monitoring, and equipment maintenance are advantageous (e.g., CAT Technician Certification).
  • Mincom Certificate of Competency
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with heavy machinery in the mining sector, particularly Caterpillar equipment.
  • Experience in equipment diagnostics, condition monitoring, and reliability engineering.
