Job Description

The Equipment Health Engineer – KOM is responsible for monitoring the health and performance of all Komatsu heavy mining equipment, ensuring optimal performance, and minimizing unplanned downtime through preventive and predictive maintenance. This role involves leveraging condition monitoring (KOM – Komatsu’s Equipment Health Monitoring) systems to gather and analyze data to enhance equipment reliability and lifespan. Main Responsibility Areas
  • Equipment Monitoring & Analysis: Utilize Komatsu’s KOM system to track the condition and performance of mining equipment such as haul trucks, excavators, and dozers.
 
  • Data Interpretation: Analyze real-time equipment health data to identify potential faults or failures, determining the root cause of issues before they escalate.
 
  • Maintenance Planning: Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule preventive or corrective maintenance based on the data from equipment health monitoring systems.
 
  • Report Generation: Generate regular reports on equipment performance and reliability metrics for management review.
 
  • Fault Detection & Troubleshooting: Identify equipment malfunctions early and recommend appropriate actions for rectification.
 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to ensure smooth equipment operations.
  • Training: Train equipment operators and maintenance personnel on best practices for using the KOM system and understanding health indicators

Qualification & Experience

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):  
  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification in equipment health monitoring systems, such as Komatsu or other OEM-specific condition monitoring systems, is an added advantage.
  • Mincom Certificate of Competency.
  • Experience working with heavy equipment like Komatsu, Caterpillar, or other similar brands, along with experience in condition monitoring tools and techniques
Experience: 5-8 years of experience in equipment health monitoring or maintenance engineering within the mining, heavy equipment, or manufacturing industry
