Job Description

The Maintenance Planner – LV will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and scheduling maintenance activities for light vehicle equipment used in manganese mining operations. Your role is to also ensure the optimal functioning of equipment, through effective planning and preventive maintenance strategies to minimize equipment downtime, improve reliability, and extend the lifespan of the light vehicles Main Responsibility Areas
  • Maintenance Planning & Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed maintenance plans and schedules for all light vehicles and other mobile machinery.
 
  • Preventive Maintenance (PM): Create preventive maintenance schedules based on equipment usage and manufacturer recommendations to ensure that maintenance is performed at optimal intervals.
 
  • Work Orders Management: Generate and manage work orders for maintenance tasks, ensuring proper prioritization of work based on equipment criticality.
 
  • Parts & Inventory Management: Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure that required spare parts and consumables are available for scheduled maintenance activities.
 
  • Collaboration with Maintenance Team: Work closely with maintenance supervisors, engineers, and technicians to ensure that maintenance activities are performed efficiently and as per schedule.
 
  • Maintenance Optimization: Continuously evaluate maintenance processes and recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and component replacements. Prepare reports on maintenance performance and equipment availability for management review.
 
  • Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.

Qualification & Experience

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):  
  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience working with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for scheduling and tracking maintenance tasks.
  • Certifications in maintenance planning, project management, or relevant technical qualifications related to HME, and mining equipment are advantageous.
Professional Experience: 5 – 7 years of experience in maintenance planning, particularly with light-duty mobile equipment in the mining or heavy industry.
