The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Samual Abdullai Jinapor, paid a working visit to Ghana Manganese Company Ltd on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, as part of the preparation for the sod-cutting ceremony scheduled for November 21, 2024, for the construction of Ghana’s first manganese refinery.
The $450 million project aims to add value to the manganese ore and increase the country’s manganese revenue from 27 percent to nearly 40 percent.
The project when completed will provide over 400.000 direct and indirect jobs.
The Managing Director of Ghana Manganese Company Ltd, Mr Jurgen Eijgendaal retreated the importance of the refinery to the operations of the company.
“The value addition and the cost-effective operation is key to the long-term success of GMC,” he said.
He added that “ the company is readying itself for the construction of the refinery.
